Tailor Srinivas: “Ideas of harmony, cohabitation and symbiosis pervade the world of Hyderabad based painter, Tailor Srinivas. Paying due regard to his rural upbringing and rustic inspirations, Srinivas’s works effortlessly showcase the fine thread that attaches the human to the non-human and natural elements. His art seeks motivation from life in his homeland, Tekmal, where the solicitous people live in perfect harmony with the benevolence of nature. Srinivas tries to work with figurative forms. Be it a woman, a man or an animal, his forms are abstractions who tell a story of their own. The painter prefers simplicity and to this purpose, uses no composite colours in his artwork. His expertise lies in the use of controlled lines, definite tones and fine strokes that convey a sense of power. Srinivas’s vibrant depiction of Lord Vishnu’s Matsya avatar is an image fit for a languid scrutiny
eliciting aesthetic bliss. His penchant for adding details to simple constructs, instead of overcrowding his paintings with elements, is a feature worth lauding. The Matsya avatar stresses the importance of inception, new beginnings and metamorphoses. The holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Painting from JNTU Hyderabad, Srinivas’s compositions have a resonant harmony emanating from them. He uses the medium of charcoal and crayon on canvas and paper, and acrylic on canvas. His unique use of pigments against each other, gives his paintings a dash of refreshment. Srinivas’s recent solo exhibitions include shows at Art for Concern Chennai (2018), India Art Festival Mumbai (2019) and Foundation of art and culture, Bhopal (2020). He has also received the silver medal for painting at the All India Art Competition, Hyderabad (2002).”
