Description

I was born and brought up in Kaslabad, Siddipet district of Telangana, India. My interest in art began unexpectedly with the drawings I made for my science class. My talent got discovered by a teacher as I always found myself more intrigued by drawings and paintings than schoolwork. By the time I was in grade 10th, I was a signboard artist.
My approach to art is pretty grounded. I use folk and rural themes with a contemporary touch, drawing attention to the delicate expressions, clothing, jewellery, and lifestyle of my subjects. My paintings are influenced by minimalist lines and spare style; typical animation virtue. The geometric style which often appears in my work is a reflection of my initial days.

My work often exemplifies women and sometimes men, immersed in their routine and leisure activities. The drapery designs and motifs add a sort of movement and speed. When it comes to the use of colours in my paintings, I believe that villagers often worship various local deities and that innocence and simplicity in them gets reflected perfectly by applying different colours to portray their faces. This is also the reason why I don’t deliberately mix colours or use too much texturing.

I feel my job is to record the story of my culture and tell their stories. I use art to keep the community’s culture alive and that is what I see as my greatest motivating force. I`m also told that my paintings have a range and that’s only because these are my people and this is my culture. I get a lot of joy and satisfaction from painting my culture.
